Spending time with family may be the worst way to change broken systems...

It's common to think that family gatherings, dinners, or meetings will create meaningful conversations and relationships in a family.

I understand why people think this. It makes sense that relationships will deepen if you spend time together, right?

As a father of three daughters, a son, a brother and a grandfather, I used to think the same thing for years.

Family gurus have been teaching us that spending time together or using communication strategies will improve relationships, so it's easy to fall into this trap.

But here's the question I have for you: Is meeting with your family or having dinner together creating deep conversations leading to meaningful relationships? Or do you not want to rock the boat and leave wondering what is wrong?

Do you think family dinners or meetings that stay at the surface will create connection, freedom from the past and healing?

No, they won't. They can't because the family system is stuck in an outdated archetype that hasn't been changed systemically yet.

The closest families don't ignore the system that's underneath their meetings and conversations.

But how do you do this practically when there's baggage that seems to get in the way and complicate things?

You listen systemically, so you work with the systemic messages underneath your family dynamics.

I call this creating a safe space at the speed of your presence.

Learning how to listen systemically equips you and your family with five virtual safe space meetings that create a safe space for something new to happen.

When you learn how to create a safe space like this, people feel safe and connect across generations, belief systems, and despite past conflicts.

And the best part is that it nourishes the human spirit and soul in the process.
